‘The Challenge’ season 41 finale footage leaks early online and spoils ending for fans

The Challenge: Vets and New Threats finale leaked online days early, completely spoiling the end of season 41 for unsuspecting fans scrolling on social media. And the leak came from MTV‘s official website.

While the second half of the season 41 finale airs Wednesday, footage from the end of the episode was uploaded on TikTok with no spoiler warning over the weekend and went viral as it remained on the social media app for almost two days.

On Saturday and early Sunday, the unauthorized TikTok account @thechallengemtv uploaded multiple videos totaling nearly seven minutes of the season 41 finale ending, revealing the results for each of the four teams competing in the final.

As of Sunday night, the videos were still up on the platform on that account. By Monday morning, all seven videos had been deleted on that account. However, other spoiler accounts have since posted the videos on Twitter (again with no spoiler warning).

Before the videos were taken down on TikTok, they had a total of more than 154,000 views, half of which were from the two posts spoiling the winners of season 41.

However, it appears that the leaked video actually originated from MTV.com, with a nearly nine-minute video posted on Thursday revealing the end of the finale. As of Tuesday night, the video titled, “The Challenge Final Words,” is still available to watch on the network’s official website.

A representative for MTV declined to comment to Entertainment Weekly regarding the leak.

While The Challenge has historically battled spoiler culture online — with multiple “tea pages” and fan accounts revealing results of seasons during filming on different social media apps including Twitter and Reddit — this is the first time a finale episode was leaked with actual footage.

The leak occurred before the screener for part two of the finale was sent to members of the press. There was no watermark in the leaked footage.

Part one of The Challenge: Vets and New Threats finale aired last week, with four pairs beginning the grueling race in the Andes Mountains in Chile: Turbo Çamkıran and Sydney Segal, Michaela Bradshaw and Cedric Hodges, Olivia Kaiser and Yeremi Hykel, and Theo Campbell and Adrienne Naylor.

By the end of the first half of the final, Turbo and Sydney were in first place with a major lead, with Michaela and Cedric overtaking Olivia and Yeremi at the last checkpoint for second place. Olivia and Yeremi eventually ended the day in third place, with Theo and Adrienne arriving in fourth. However, there is still an overnight challenge and a second day of the race still ahead for all four teams in part two of the finale.

Olivia and Theo announced the birth of their first baby together on Thursday with an Instagram post revealing he was born two weeks early on Nov. 20. Theo, 34, is also father to son Aries, whom he shares with his ex Sapphire Yhnell.

It has been rumored by multiple season 41 cast members that Olivia became pregnant during season 41 filming, with Derek Chavez commenting on the Instagram post, “Just so yall know. He was conceived on my bday.” (Derek’s birthday was celebrated in an early season 41 episode with a pool party.)

Both Olivia and Theo made it to the final this season while paired with different partners, and competed against each other in the first half. But host T.J. Lavin introduced a twist at the end of the episode that revealed they could “stake a claim” on anyone’s partner for the second half of the grueling race. Theo considered potentially ditching his current partner, Adrienne, to team up with Olivia so they could win as a couple.

Neither Theo nor Olivia has won The Challenge in their previous attempts, despite coming close to earning the title of champion.

The Challenge: Vets and New Threats airs part two of the finale on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Update: This article has been edited to reflect where the leaked video was first posted.
