You Can Now Take a Golf-Themed Luxury Train Through Italy With Michelin-Starred Dining and Tuscan Fairways

A new luxury train ride will take golf enthusiasts on a trip around Italy in style, playing on some of the country’s most iconic courses along the way.

The La Dolce Vita Orient Express‘ new “Italian Swing” itinerary will bring travelers on a roundtrip journey from Rome complete with stops in Puglia and Tuscany. After recently completing its inaugural trip, the luxury train operator is planning a new departure for March 2026.

“Conceived for an international audience, the project further enhances Italy’s position as a premier golf and lifestyle destination,” the company wrote in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. “It combines the heritage of luxury train travel with the prestige of some of the country’s most celebrated golf courses.”

The three-night trip begins with a round at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club just outside Rome (and host of the 2023 Ryder Cup) before heading to play at the San Domenico Golf Club in Fasano overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Travelers will then head down to Tuscany to play the private course at The Club at Castiglion del Bosco before playing their final round at the Argentario Golf Club.

Throughout the journey, guests are accompanied by a professional golfer to enhance the experience with expert guidance.

Onboard, the train features two categories of cabins: deluxe cabins, which include a sofa that unfolds into a double bed at night, and suites, which have a separate bed and sitting area. Rooms are decked out in rich textiles and brass finishes evoking old-world glamour.

The train also boasts an elevated culinary program led by three Michelin-starred Chef Heinz Beck with dishes “crafted to celebrate the unique culinary traditions of Italy’s diverse regions.” In the evenings, guests can retire to the Lounge Bar for traditional aperitivo underneath an opulent lacquered ceiling and amid furnishings designed in soft beige tones.

Passengers are treated like royalty from the second they arrive, whisked into a private lounge at Rome’s Ostiense station for a welcome reception.

Reservations for the trip start at €12,360 ($14,366) per passenger.

In addition, the Orient Express will offer a second golf-themed itinerary, called the “Northern Greens.” That trip will also run roundtrip from Rome over three nights, departing May 16, 2026, with stops at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, the Franciacorta Golf Club in Lombardy, the Royal Park I Roveri on the outskirts of Turin, and the Argentario Golf Club in Tuscany.
